6000 & 7000 series aluminium
Aluminium remains a top choice for wheelchair frames due to its lightweight nature and cost-effectiveness. In the ultra-lightweight manual wheelchair industry, two main alloys are used: 6000 series and 7000 series aluminium.
Titanium
Titanium offers the highest strength-to-weight ratio of any metal. It’s exceptionally strong and long-lasting, yet light enough to allow for custom shaping and welding to fit each user—delivering a tailored fit without compromising durability.
Carbon Fibre
Carbon fibre is a high-performance composite made from thousands of fibres, either woven or aligned in one direction. This flexibility allows engineers to customise the fibre layout to deliver strength exactly where it’s needed, making wheelchairs lighter and more responsive.
Mono Tube
Mono tube designs are the most popular as there's only a single frame tube that follows the body.
Dual Tube
Dual tube designs offer an additional lower tube for added strength and performance.
Configuration
Configuration means how the chair is designed and set up for the individual. This includes more than just the different options and seating choices. At TiLite we like to focus on how a chair is built for the individual. Most of our designs are custom fabricated to match each order as closely as possible and allow the user to specify individual bends to fit their ideal seating position. We call this approach TiFit. You can further customise your chair with options beyond those listed on our standard order forms.

CMD 16 – Ergo split seat pan
This modification is indicated for individuals who have an ergonomic seat and require a solid seat pan for posture and positioning.

CMD 19 – Non-fold, fixed height backrest (no backrest hinge)
Modification indicated for individuals who require a fixed/non folding backrest, but require height adjustability in the posts or require a specific height that is not standard on the order form.

CMD 91 – Extra short handrim tabs
Modification reduces overall chair width by bringing the handrim closer to the wheel, for improved accessibility in narrow environments.

CMD 33 – Carbon Fibre fixed and fendered sideguards
Modification is indicated for individuals who require fender side guard to protect clothes and they do not require it to be removed.

CMD 08 – Adapted front seat width
Modification indicated for individuals who have specific positioning needs for their lower extremities that are not indicated on the order form. This modification allows the clinician and the ATP to match the precise size of the client for optimal fit and performance.

CMD 29 – Outward taper backrest
Modification indicated for individuals who present with more narrow shape at hip width than at the chest and shoulders.

CMD 04 – Adapted-Sized and Shaped Aluminium Footplate
Modification indicated for individuals who present with lower extremity positioning and shape that cannot be accommodated with the standard size foot plate on the order form
