Hands On Series: Seating and Positioning Solutions for Complex Postures
Hands On Series: Exploring Seating and Positioning

The wide range of seating and positioning products available on the market can make it overwhelming to decide which option to try with a person - how do you narrow the options down and make a decision? What information do we need to collect in our assessment to help us identify which solution may be suitable to try with a person?

This workshop is intended for those who are new to seating and positioning or want to know more about selecting an appropriate back support and cushion for a person.

In this workshop we explore
- Introduction to MAT and use of assessment forms
- Frequently observed postural changes and how seating can influence these
- Cushions features – including materials used in fabrication
- Back support features – including planar vs inbuilt lateral supports
- Appropriate use of accessories

Participants will be able to
- Identify the difference between reducible and non-reducible postural changes
