Providing seating solutions for people with complex or non-reducible musculoskeletal changes is often a balancing act – incorporating a person’s postural support needs with their functional needs with potential carer support needs. Translating these needs into seating specifications can be a further challenge – do we maximize the use of modular seating or when is custom seating more appropriate?
This workshop allows participants to
- Refresh their MAT assessment skills and how this information can be used to identify product parameters.
- Review management of both reducible and non-reducible pelvic and spinal changes
- Explore modular seating and what postures can be accommodated
- Review the material science of seating to create individualised seating solutions
Participants will be able to
- Identify how a MAT assessment can be used to identify product features
- Demonstrate how to use seating products to accommodate non-reducible sitting postures
- Identify when a person is likely to benefit from a custom fabricated seating solution
