Hands On Series: Exploring Power Wheelchairs
Hands On Series: Exploring Power Wheelchairs

There are a wide range of power wheelchairs available on the market – where do you start when prescribing one?  What drive wheel configuration is best?  How do the power seat functions work?

This Exploring Power Wheelchairs workshop goes beyond the theory and gives you the opportunity to test out midwheel and front wheel drive chairs, experience the power seat functions and learn more about how the chairs can be programmed for ease of use for the wheelchair user.

In this workshop we explore
- Drive wheel configuration
- Expandable vs non-expandible electronics
- Power seat functions – power tilt, power seat elevate, power recline, power elevating leg supports, power anterior tilt (ActiveReach)
- Basic controller programming – speed, acceleration, joystick throw
